My Mission

My mission is to provide you with the most enjoyable and relaxing experience possible. In order to do this I make sure that you are comfortable and that all of the elements of the massage are to your liking. Depth of pressure, quality of touch, rhythm and area of focus are all taken into close consideration as I work to bring to you to greater levels of enjoyment and tranquility. I use long fluid strokes, squeezing and kneading, friction, vibration, gentle striking and stretching to help you release tension and arrive at a more balanced and whole place in your body, mind and spirit. Massage is great medicine! You will almost certainly feel an elevation in mood, increased range of motion, ease and fluidity in the joints and improved sleep. On a more cellular level you will see an improvement in immune response and circulation of both blood and lymph. I see massage as an opportunity to honor the body and give it the caring attention that it so deserves. Thank you in advance for your interest. I hope to work with you soon!

What to Expect

Seeing a new massage therapist for the first time can be a delicate thing. For this reason I’d like you to have a clear picture of what to expect so that you can feel as comfortable as possible.

If you drive you will find street parking north of W. Burnside and come to the Topanga building’s entrance which is on W Burnside St (2157 W. Burnside St). You will give me a call or text and I will come greet you at the door and walk you up to my home studio. I will give you an intake form to fill out and ask you some questions about your current state of well being. I will then leave the room so that you can dress down to your level of comfort and lay beneath a drape on the massage table. We will commence with the treatment. Afterwards I will leave the room so that you can dress in private. I will then return and ask you how you are feeling and suggest some exercises and self care practices.  Finally we will reschedule if you like and process payment in the form of cash, card or check. I will then thank you and see you on your way.

Swedish: This modality utilizes oil or lotion to facilitate long, rhythmic and moderately deep strokes which promote deep relaxation and circulation of blood and lymph fluid throughout the body.

Deep Tissue: You can expect focused attention for specific areas of the body in need of pain relief and release from excess tension. Various stretching techniques which utilize the body’s reflexes can be applied. As well, I may ask you to participate in the massage by moving against gentle applied resistance. I use little to no lubricant in order to most effectively penetrate deeper layers of tissue.

Hot Stone: Hot stone massage is similar to swedish massage but utilizes the aid of relaxing heat which is applied by gliding smooth stones across the length of the body.

Ashiatsu: In this modality feet are used to deliver long gliding strokes to the whole body. If you like very deep and broad pressure, this modality is for you!

Massage for All:

I believe that bodywork should be available to all people regardless of their socioeconomic status. In order to reach the widest scope of clients possible, I provide one donation-based session per week. If you are interested in receiving massage but are short on funds please contact me directly.

In order to support justice and equity for African American people, I offer one donation-based massage per week for activists working with Black Lives Matter or any other organization dedicated to the liberation of Black people.

Cancellation Policy:

I understand that there are sometimes extenuating circumstances that impact one’s ability to arrive on time or show up for appointments. In order to minimize the impact of these instances I ask that the following policies are honored:

  • If you must cancel an appointment, please contact me no later than 24 hours in advance. If you are not able to contact me within this time period you will be charged for the full amount of the appointment. This amount must be payed prior to your following appointment.
  • Arriving late may shorten the total time that I am able to work with you. You will be responsible for the cost of the full session regardless of the actual length of the session. Out of respect for myself and the following clients, please plan accordingly and be on time.
